Hello everyone. I am Hasumi Inoue who belongs to this studio as a makeup staff.
Do you know a maiko?
A maiko performs traditional arts such as singing, dancing, and shamisen to entertain guests in the tatami room of a teahouse in the Hanamachi district, making the party more enjoyable.
Maiko are women between the ages of 15 and 20, and are said to be a unique culture and tradition of Kyoto.
So today, we would like to introduce a customer who experienced our Maiko Experience Luxury Plan.
This plan is a very luxurious plan that allows you to take pictures indoors in a Japanese-style room and outdoors in the Togetsubridge and bamboo grove.
Please take a look at the many photos that you can feel very nice Japan and Kyoto.
【Togetsu bridge Photography】
It was a very windy day and the sun was very strong, but the very fresh look is wonderful.
The Togetsu bridge is reflected in this shot, so you can feel Kyoto in this one.
The contrast between the red umbrella and the green kimono is very nice.
In our studio, we use wigs that make the hairline look natural, so it looks like it is really tied like a real maiko.
The hair color of the wig is black, but we can also use a black coloring spray that can be easily washed out for non-black hair, so any hair color can experience the wig.
This customer experienced the Couple Plan as a couple, so in addition to a solo shoot for each of them, we can also shoot them together.
They both look great in kimonos.
Maiko wear long kimonos called susohiki, which are designed to make them look beautiful when they dance.
When they walk, they hold onto the Tsuma of their kimonos, as shown in this photo.
However, it can be hard to walk around holding onto the Tsuma of your kimono all the time, so don’t worry, in our studio you can lift and fasten the hem of your kimono before going outside. When taking photos, you will hold onto the hem of your kimono just like a real maiko.
【Bamboo Forest Photography】
The bamboo grove is very cool because of the shade of the bamboo.
The moment you arrive at the bamboo grove, you feel as if you have arrived in a different world.
The light shining through the bamboo is very mysterious and unique to bamboo forest photography.
The colors of the bamboo and the kimono match well!
Men were also photographed solo in the bamboo grove. The bamboo forest in the background made for a cool and dignified shoot.
At our studio, you can choose either Kinagashi or Hakama, and this client chose Hakama. The hakama style is recommended for men who like a cool atmosphere because of its samurai-like style.
【Japanese-style room Photography】
The last one is indoor Japanese-style room shooting.
If you want to feel Japan, indoor photography is recommended.
The smiling face with the mouth covered gives the impression of a graceful maiko. The gorgeous kimono pattern on the sleeves also adds to the glamorous look.
Newly debuted maiko often wear kimonos with bright colors and gorgeous patterns. As they get older, they change to simpler kimonos with fewer patterns. Newly debuted maiko also wear red collars, but as they get older, the color changes to more subdued colors such as cream.
However, many customers choose a color of kimono that they do not usually wear themselves, so we also recommend choosing a collar color that matches the color of the kimono!
For indoor shooting, you can take pictures with a sword.
It is very cool and looks like a samurai. We have a variety of props in our studio. If there is something you would like to carry, please feel free to ask the photographer at the time of the shoot.
What a great shot of the two of them!
The couple came to us as a commemoration of their trip to Japan.
This plan is perfect for commemorating your trip to Japan, as we offer photo shooting at sightseeing spots in Arashiyama, Kyoto, as shown in the photos introduced here.
We would love to take pictures with you alone, with your family, or with your friends.
How was this blog entry, in which I shared some knowledge about maiko, the symbol of Kyoto?
